This weekend, Aston Villa take on Sunderland at Villa Park hoping to get their second league win of the season whilst the visitors will be hoping to pick up their first league win of the season after picking up their first point of the season last weekend against Swansea.
Aston Villa
First of all, we start with the team news for Aston Villa. The win against Notts County allowed us to progress to the third round of the Capital One Cup and also allowed the likes of Jack Grealish to continue to get some much-needed minutes under his belt.
Brad Guzan will return in goal for Mark Bunn, with the entire back four likely to revert back to the one that has played in the league with ‘team captain’ Micah Richards to return to lead the defence. Despite a sickness bug that has spread throughout the camp in recent days, all of the players affected by it are likely to be available for selection.
New signing, Adama Traore who has impressed in his first two outings as a Villa player could yet have some involvement despite not training since Tuesday after picking up an ankle injury. Jack Grealish and Rudy Gestede are expected to start as part of a front three with Scott Sinclair.
Sunderland
The visitors team news is that summer signing Jermaine Lens is fit after missing their Capital One Cup game against Exeter, as is Billy Jones who also missed the midweek fixture.
New signing, Ola Toivonen is available to play following his loan move to the Black Cats, however, he will most likely be on the bench as he has little to no match fitness. Former-Spurs forward, Jermain Defoe will lead the line again, with Costel Pantillimon to continue in goal after his man of the match performance last week. John O’Shea is likely to remain in the centre of defence.
