What he said about the game itself:
Despite only managing a draw against a struggling Sunderland side in the league, Tim Sherwood had an optimistic view on the game. He started off by pointing out that he “can be disappointed” his team didn’t get the three points, but then followed up by claiming that there were some “excellent performances” by Villa and refused to say his team played badly.
His view on the Carles Gil penalty claim:
Sherwood disagreed with the officials on this decision because the player himself told him that there was contact. Sherwood then said, “If there is contact I think you’re entitled to go to ground.” He felt that if the decision went Villa’s way, they would have got what they “deserved”
His injury:
Tim revealed that he had pulled his hamstring and said ” I never did it as a player. I have now done it as a manager.”
Going on to say, “I was going to kick the bottles forward but there were too many people so I thought I’d be polite and backheel them and snapped my hamstring.” He also added “It feels bad”
On Scott Sinclair:
Sherwood described being in the right place at the right time as “a knack” and said that it wasn’t down to luck. He also talked about getting goals from “different areas of the field”
When talking about Jordan Amavi:
Sherwood described Amavi as “a sponge” because “He takes on what you tell him and he applies it.” He also said he “really likes” Amavi and that he will “learn” from his mistake last week.
