Aston Villa have completed the loan signing of Liverpool centre-back Tiago Ilori, the English-born 22-year old could also make his move permanent next summer as Villa have an option to buy the player for a reported £3million.
Ilori has always been seen as a player with solid potential by the Liverpool faithful, yet has never been able to convert that potential into first team starts.
The Portuguese U21 player has found it difficult to break into the first team during previous loan spells, and with Joleon Lescott also moving to Villa park on deadline day, it’s questionable as to whether the hot prospect will be able to get regular first team action.
Ilori’s transfer was rumored throughout the day, however, speculation had died down after Lescott’s arrival.
The central defender, who can also play left back, will be Tim Sherwood’s fifth defensive signing of the season after picking up. Jordan Amavi, Micah Richards, Lescott and Jose Angel Crespo.
