Aston Villa’s Jordan Amavi and Idrissa Gueye have both made it into the top five newcomers in August with www.WhoScored.com using their data to rank new signings during August.
Idrissa Gueye is fifth in the rankings with the Senegalese international producing some dominant midfield performances to fill the void left by Fabian Delph. Only two players have made more tackles and interceptions than Gana so far this season. In total, he made 29 in the first month of the season. Gana also averaged 1.5 shots per game as well as the same number for key passes.
The midfielders diverse displays in a claret and blue shirt has earned plaudits from the Villa faithful. Any open wounds caused by Delph’s exit will continue to heal if he continues such form.

Jordan Amavi finished top of the WhoScored.com rankings for August. Amavi moved to the Premier League side from Nice and has settled very quickly at Villa Park. Amavi has shown he can apply himself going forward as well as defending. Despite an error to let Crystal Palace score their winner the other week he has been one of Villa’s most consistent performers so far this campaign.
The 21-year old completed 15 dribbles in August more than any other player in the Premier League including the likes of Eden Hazard. He was also judged to of made 3.5 tackles and 3.3 interceptions per game placing him top of the newcomer performances for August.

The other three players featuring in the top five were Cedric Soares of Southampton, Yann M’Vila of Sunderland, and Andre Ayew of Swansea City.
