This summer Aston Villa enquired about the availability of England international Andros Townsend, with John Cross of the Daily Mirror reporting that Sunderland also enquired over the winger.

The England international is popular with manager Roy Hodgson, but is in fear for his place in his squad for Euro 2016 as he can’t pin down a regular starting spot at Tottenham. The 24-year old has missed out this time around for games against San Marino and Switzerland due to an ankle injury. Townsend is considering quitting Tottenham in January to get a better opportunities of first team football.
Cross also reports that Townsend was offered as part of the deadline day move for Saido Berahino, so Tim Sherwood will have competition if Villa make a move for him in January.
Townsend played 35 times last season, scoring five goals in all competitions and has played nine times for England.
The England international was reportedly available for around £15m, clubs are hoping that the price will be slashed in January.
