England manager, Roy Hodgson is hopeful that Villa wonder-kid, Jack Grealish will make a decision on his international future soon.
Grealish is English-born but has played all his international youth football for the Republic of Ireland, where his grandparents are from. Despite Grealish’s commitment to Ireland at all youth levels of international football, his senior commitment is still in the air.
Hodgson speaking after England’s 6-0 victory against San Marino on Saturday said that he would like the Villans attacker to come out and say that he was opting to play for England. Speaking about the decision he said, “Maybe before the October fixtures he might make the decision.”
The England manager went on to say that it ‘would be nice’ for Grealish to say ‘yes’ so that the in-demand youngster ‘could knock’ some of the other England players ‘off their perch’ ahead of the European Championships in France next summer. He believes he is ‘very talented’ and that he can ‘foresee’ new players breaking into his squad ahead of next year.
The former-Liverpool manager said that he had spoken to Grealish last month saying that he ‘made it clear to him’ that he wanted him to play for England in the future.
