Aston Villa midfielder, Idrissa Gueye is to have a scan this morning to determine the extent of a hamstring injury picked up by the 25-year old on international duty for Senegal.
Bertin Basson from www.africanfootball.com reports that the former-Lille midfield dynamo picked up the injury in Senegal’s final training session ahead of a clash against South Africa this evening.
Gueye has slotted perfectly into Tim Sherwood’s side – dictating play and driving the ball forward. The midfielder has been proven to be one of the best performing new signings in the Premier League so far this season by www.WhoScored.com.
He has also had a pass completion rate of 84% and an average of over 50 passes per game so far in a claret and blue shirt.
Tim Sherwood has plenty of options if Gueye’s injury is serious though with the likes of Jordan Veretout, Gary Gardner, Carlos Sanchez, and Ashley Westwood all competing for a role in the Villans midfield. It will still come as a serious blow to Villa if the injury picked up is serious.
