Aston Villa face Leicester today and boss Tim Sherwood has spoke to Aston Villa’s website in the build-up to it.
“Nigel Pearson did a great job with their team, especially at the back end of the season. Claudio Ranieri has taken it on. He’s picked up the reins.”

“They know what they are. They’re a hard working side with a lot of pace and flair in the right areas.”
“They’re going to cause us a lot of problems and we hope to cause them problems too.”
He described Mahrez as being ‘exceptional’ in the new campaign and that he is a ‘very talented’ player. Sherwood also spoke of his ‘admiration’ for Jamie Vardy.
The Villa manager then went on to speak about new signing, Joleon Lescott:

“He’s played a lot of games in the Premier League. He’s been a winner.” He said Lescott will bring ‘much-needed experience’ to his new look side.
“We’re not getting Joleon in his prime. but we’re certainly getting a player who I admire – and have admired for a great period of time.”
“Micah has been excellent and Ciaran has done a very good job as well. There’s good competition for places.”
Sherwood also spoke about the great winning feeling in football and the upcoming derby matches on the horizon: “I can’t tell you how euphoric you feel when you watch that referee put that whistle in his mouth when you’re winning a game. It’s an amazing feeling.”
“As a manager, you’re carrying all the expectations of all the fans and the players.”
“That’s why you’re so disappointed when you get matches like Sunderland where you don’t get what you deserve. That’s the nature of this game.”
“We’ve got a massive game in the Capital One Cup against Birmingham City.”
“If we were playing a team other than Birmingham City then maybe we’d look to rotate the squad but we have no intention of doing that.”
He said that they will go ‘flat out’ to win every encounter.
