Aston Villa are set to go head to head with Premier League rivals for the signature of Ahmed Elmohamady, reports Bill Cooper of The Daily Mirror.
Everton, Swansea and Leicester are all set challenge Villa for his signature when the transfer window re-opens in again January.
The winger is a favourite of Steve Bruce who first brought the player to our shores from Egyptian side ENPPI in 2010 before signing him permanently for Sunderland the following year. The two were reunited again at Hull City in 2012, joining on a permanent deal in 2013.
The 28-year-old is respected highly for his quick feet and crossing ability and is no doubt sought after for his versatility down the right-hand side, where he can play in an attacking or defensive position.
The winger who has 71-caps for the Egyptian national team and would be an experienced addition to the squad should Sherwood decide to sign the £5m-rated man in January.
Elmohamady has made 6 appearances for Hull City so far this season in The Championship scoring once, in a 2-1 victory over Fulham.
