The Mirror’s Neil Moxley is reporting that Villa number one Brad Guzan will no longer be standing between the posts at Villa Park soon. Tim Sherwood sent Tony Coton, to Germany to watch the German U21 international Loris Karius play for Mainz in their 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.
Karius has been at Mainz for three years after being shipped out on loan by Manchester City and has blossomed since his switch to the Bundesliga.
Ever since being replaced by Shay Given last season, Guzan has looked out of sorts and is lucky that he wasn’t replaced during last summer’s window with Villa’s attempt to sign Asmir Begovic ending in failure.
Villa did sign Mark Bunn from Norwich, but he appears to be a backup option and doesn’t possess the quality to be Tim Sherwood’s top shot stopper.
Many fans have voiced their displeasure over Guzan’s performances over the last two seasons and a move for a new keeper does look to be on the cards for Tim Sherwood.
