Garde pull outs of punditry

Aston Villa mangerial target Remi Garde has dropped out of his punidtry duties with French TV channel Canal+, amid rumours he is destined for Villa Park.

His was due to cover Liverpool v Chelsea on Saturday afternoon with the station, but has pulled out, leading many to believe that his appointment is getting close. It reportedly hit a stumbling block, after a dispute with former club Lyon about getting an assistant manager. He wants to bring with him Lyon assistant Gerald Baticle, however the club are refusing to allow him to leave.

Tim Sherwood and his managerial team were relived of their duties on Sunday morning, after their seventh straight league defeat of the season against Swansea City.

Aston Villa currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League, with only one win all season, and having amassed a measly four points.

Their next match is a visit to sixth placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have only been defeated once this season.
