Remi Garde has been appointed Aston Villa manager on a three and a half deal, after it was announced on Aston Villa’s official website.
The former Lyon manager and assistant manager to Gerard Houllier, has been described as Arsene Wenger’s ‘protege’ and has an impressive track record with bringing youth players through into the Senior squad.
The French-man was a surprising favourite after he was earmarked by Villa CEO Tom Fox after a conversation with Arsenal manager Wenger.
Garde, 49 has been hailed for his brief work at Lyon for managing a side to stay competitive while key players were sold off to keep the club afloat, while the likes of PSG and Monaco enjoyed healthy cash injections in each transfer window.
With the signings of Jordan Amavi, Jordan Ayew, Jordan Veretout and Idrissa Gueye – it is a perfect platform for Garde to build upon if past experience is anything to go off.
