While speaking to BT Sport, former Aston Villa assistant manager Ray Wilkins expressed his concerns towards Villa and said that they’ll go down.
The former Chelsea assistant left his role at the club earlier this season after Tim Sherwood was let go, but doesn’t believe that Villa have the quality to remain in the Premier League next season
“No. I think it’s extremely difficult for them at the moment.
I would love to see them [stay up], because I had a really nice affinity with the guys, but I think where they find themselves at the moment it’s going to take a hell of a lot to transfer that into massive points.”

Interestingly, Wilkins believes that if Villa had kept Tim Sherwood in charge, they would definitely be staying up come the end of the season. He also added that the former Spurs man has the potential to become a top manager and hopes to see him do so in the future.
“Having had with the pleasure of working with so many top coaches at Chelsea, I’ve seen that Tim has a lot of the same criteria. I think he will become a massive manager in the future.”
“He needs to get back in because I honestly do feel that he will become a top manager. He has the right man management skills, he coaches well and he’s always on the pitch.”
Wilkins finished off by pointing out that players such as Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph are irreplaceable for The Villans and that the sales of those two players were a massive downfall for the club.

“You can’t really replace those players.”
“It was always going to be difficult without those players”
