According to Sam Wallace from The Telegraph, Aston Villa want to bring in QPR striker Charlie Austin during the January transfer window for a reported fee of around £8m.
Austin is no stranger to goalscoring success in England’s top division, scoring 18 times last season for his relegated QPR side. Miraculously no one picked the English forward up during the summer window which now means he will be available to Villa during the January transfer window for a fairly cheap price.
With Austin’s contract running until July, QPR won’t want to lose him for free and might consider cashing in on their star man before it’s too late. QPR currently lie 13th in the Championship table, eight points off the playoffs and 14 points off automatic promotion so the club must ask themselves whether its worth keeping Austin considering they may not even be playing in the Premier League next season.

Austin had a brilliant start to this season netting eight times in his first nine appearances but sadly suffered from a hamstring problem and hasn’t scored since. QPR have only managed to win one out of their last six games which has caused manager Chris Ramsey to be sacked and with Villa recently appointing Remi Garde, the atmosphere at Villa Park would be substantially superior to that of Loftus Road.
Despite interest from Crystal Palace and Newcastle, Austin chose to stay at QPR to finish his contract there but with Villa losing key man Christian Benteke to Liverpool goals have been a problem for The Villans. This is a problem they hope Charlie Austin will fix.
