Villa vs. Watford – Preview

Bottom of the table Villa come up against a Watford side who have been in poor form recently, which team can break their poor run and get the vital three points?

Villa are just off an extremely poor performance in their 4-0 defeat to Everton but Watford’s morale won’t be much better than Villa’s after suffering a last minute defeat to Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United side.

The Villans are still looking for their first win since the opening day and need one badly as they are slipping further and further away from safety. Remi Garde is also looking for his first win as The Claret and Blue’s manager and will hope to push on and get a run going.

Quique Sanchez Flores’s side have had a good start considering they’re only a newly promoted side but they suffered their first successive defeats in their last two games and don’t look to be on great form. However, Troy Deeney is a passionate Birmingham fan and would love to see Villa relegated. He will be sure to contribute a lot tomorrow.

Team News

Aston Villa – Remi Garde will have Jores Okore at his disposal for the first time this season after the defender recovered from knee surgery. Jack Grealish has been left to rot in the u21’s for the time being after going out clubbing in Manchester after losing 4-0 to Everton.

Watford – The Hornets don’t have any new injuries although Valon Behrami is still looking unlikely to play due to his ongoing knee problem that kept him out last week.

Past Meetings

Villa are unbeaten to Watford in the top division at home and will look to keep that going. Watford have not scored in their last four games against the Villans, but with Ighalo on top form that might not continue!

These teams haven’t met in the Premier League since 2007, with Villa winning 2-0 on that occasion.

Prediction

Villa were shocking against Everton, but I expect them to have improved, especially defensively. However, I believe that Watford will find a goal through either Deeney or Ighalo but Villa should also manage to get one. I predict a 1-1 draw.
