“We made too many mistakes and conceded too many goals to get a result but in terms of commitment and the way we tried to win that game pleased me.”
Positives ahead of the game:
The Villans manager said that his side ‘miss some confidence’ going on to say he addressed his players telling them that ‘only hard work’ can give the Midlands side more positive results. And that confidence will make the side ‘stronger’.
Garde also spoke of the character and confidence his side needs to show in order to climb the table:
“The goals we concede, it’s about the desire not to concede a goal.”
Garde said that Villa must have a ‘stronger’ desire to win the ball back and that with the numbers Villa have back defending the side ‘should be less in danger’ He said it was ‘very important’ to have the ‘desire to win games’.
Finally, he also spoke of the continuing omission of Jack Grealish:
Jack Grealish will not be ‘included’ in the squad for this weekend’s clash down on the South coast. He did say he had a ‘date in mind’ for when the Villa academy graduate will return.
