Aston Villa have loaned out Jed Steer to Huddersfield Town for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has become well known to Terriers fans this season having had two separate spells there. In his first spell, which started in September, he made ten appearances and his second in November he added another six appearances to that total.
And while he wasn’t initially signed by head coach David Wagner, he has been impressed by his performances enough to bring him back to the John Smith’s Stadium until the end of the season.
He has already started his return at Huddersfield well. He made his third debut for the club against Bolton Wanderers and kept a clean sheet as the Terriers ran out 2-0 winners in this crucial six-pointer.
Following his signing, but before the match against Bolton, Wagner told the club website: “Now the winter window is open, we decided that we wanted another senior goalkeeper with Joe Murphy being the only one in our squad.”
“When we decided to react, Jed was the first goalkeeper I had in my head. He did very well when he was here, he knows everybody and the style we like to play.”
“I’m very happy we have completed the deal so quickly and that he can play for us at Bolton today.”
Steer will hope to get another clean sheet when Huddersfield face Reading in the FA Cup next Saturday.
