Paddy Riley is set to stay on as Villa’s head of recruitment, according to the Telegraph.
Riley, who returned to Villa last season after a spell at Liverpool, was the man responsible for Villa’s transfer outlay last summer which was funded by the sales of Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph.
However, those who arrived at Villa Park last summer have largely disappointed, with only Jordan Ayew who could possibly be considered a good signing.
Despite Villa undertaking a wide-ranging restructuring process in recent months, Riley’s job is reportedly safe, despite the departures of Tom Fox, Hendrik Almstadt and Remi Garde.
The Telegraph report that David Bernstein, who resigned from the Villa board on Monday, saw Riley and his scouting team as another problem area within the club which needed to be addressed.
However, with Bernstein’s resignation on Monday and Riley’s rumoured close relationship with owner Randy Lerner, he is set to be the man responsible for Villa’s transfer business as Villa prepare for the Championship next season.
What are your thoughts on Riley staying at Villa Park?
