Jores Okore hits back at Eric Black’s claims

Jores Okore has refuted claims by Villa’s caretaker manager Eric Black that he refused to be on the bench against Bournemouth earlier this month.

Black claimed before Saturday’s clash against Southampton that Okore had refused to be considered for the bench for the game against Bournemouth and had consequently been demoted to train with the Under-21 side.

Speaking to the BBC about the situation with Okore, Black said:

After that game, he said that he didn’t want to be considered for any of the games going forwards,

I didn’t have a choice apart from to remove him. I don’t want people who don’t want to be at Aston Villa.

However, in a series of statements posted on Twitter, which have since been deleted, Okore refuted Black’s claims and suggested that there was a different reason as to why he was demoted and is no longer being considered for selection.

I refuse to play? I was on the bench against Chelsea and the games before, why didn’t I refuse to play before?

There must be more to it than Mr Eric Black is telling you!

It’s the second time within the space of a month that problems have arisen between Okore and Villa, with Okore’s agent claiming at the start of April that Randy Lerner had ‘thrown in the towel’, whilst he also claimed he had failed to receive reassurances about Okore’s long-term future at Villa Park.

What are your thought’s on the current situation with Okore?
