Black: It will be a difficult game

Eric Black insists Saturday’s game against Watford will be very difficult, as he looks to end Villa’s run of 10 consecutive defeats, as the season draws to a close and Villa begin to look at next season in the Championship.

Black, who has lost his four matches in charge since he replaced Remi Garde at the end of March, described Saturday’s opponents as ‘potent’, despite their lack of goals in recent matches.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said:

They have a potent strike force and they are a well organised team.

They are well drilled by an exceptionally good coach.

He also spoke about how difficult Saturday’s game will be, stating he had watched Watford numerous times and he further stated that Watford had a number of good footballer’s at their disposal.

It’s a very, very difficult game.

I have watched them several times and they have a lot of good footballers in their team.

Black also spoke about the speculation surrounding Watford manager, Quique Sanchez Flores, who has only overseen three league wins in 2016, which is only one more win than Villa and is especially concerning for Watford after their fantastic start to the season.

Black said:

Any manager in my book who can keep a team as comfortable as they have in the division – after they have been promoted – deserves a lot of plaudits.

I don’t know what’s happening there on a day to day basis or a game to game basis.

But certainly as an external looking in, he’s done exceptionally well.

After facing Watford, Villa face Newcastle at home before facing Arsenal away in the last game of the season.
