Eric Black praises Villa fans after Newcastle draw

Eric Black praised the performance of his team, as well as praising the home fans who created a fantastic atmosphere at Villa Park.

Villa, who went into the game off the back of 12 straight consecutive defeats, failed to register a shot on target during the game despite Jordan Ayew working tirelessly throughout to create opportunities for Villa.

Speaking after the game to the BBC, Black said:

Last week, the performance at Watford merited more, but we built on that, worked tirelessly all afternoon and the supporters came with us.

Black also praised the club’s supporters, saying that the Villa faithful have a large part to play in helping Villa return to the Premier League next season.

I thought the reaction was brilliant. The Villa fans have got a big part to play in getting this club back to the Premier League.

It has been difficult to play in a relegation battle, but we have got some outstanding footballers and I thought we coped with them today.

Villa’s time in the Premier League is not over just yet, as Eric Black’s side still have to play Arsenal before Villa undergone a summer of rebuilding before next season.
