Villa managed to end a run of 11 consecutive defeats, as Eric Black’s side held Rafa Benitez’s relegation bound Newcastle side to a 0-0 draw.
In a game which saw neither side create a clear cut chance, the best viewing was perhaps to be found in the Holte End, where the Villa fans created a party atmosphere in spite of Villa’s miserable season on and off the pitch.
