Dr Tony Xia’s takeover of Aston Villa is set for further scrutiny by the Premier League and the Football League.
The Telegraph reports that doubts have arisen over the investment group used to acquire Aston Villa from Randy Lerner earlier this week.
The group used by Dr Tony Xia to purchase Aston Villa, Recon Group, has been found to have only one listed company under it’s control, rather than the five they are thought to have had under their control.
In the statement Villa published on their official website following the confirmation of the takeover on Wednesday, it stated that the Recon Group had five companies under it’s control, but it has since been established that the group only has one company under it’s control and Villa have since altered their statement.
It is reported that the Premier League are currently conducting their investigation, whilst the Football League are set to began their own investigation into the Recon Group when Villa officially become a Championship club in June.
