It’s fair to say that during Villa’s 24 year stay in the top-flight, a number of simply appalling players wore the claret and blue shirt, along with the occasional very good player.
A number of big money arrivals at Villa during the Premier League era have been simply woeful, with the likes of Bosko Balaban, Stephen Ireland and Charles N’Zogbia coming to mind.
There have also been a number of players who have arrived from the lower echelons of English football and showed during their limited exposure to Premier League football that they should be no-where near a Premier League club. Jordan Bowery would be a fine example.
