Villa have finally announced their pre-season schedule, after uncertainty about where they would begin their preparations ahead of next season.
The club have confirmed that the senior squad will travel to Austria for a training camp from 9th-14th of July. They will play their first pre-season game against Telford on Saturday 16th July, whilst also sending a side to take on Worcester on the same day.
Preparations then continue with a trip to play Bristol Rovers on Wednesday 20th July, before moving back to mainland Europe to take on FC Nantes on Saturday 23rd July.
As Villa move closer to playing their first game in the Championship, they take on Cambridge United on Tuesday 26th July before playing newly promoted Middlesbrough at Villa Park on Saturday 30th July.
This year’s pre-season schedule is certainly less spectacular than it has been in the past, with trips to the USA having been a feature of Randy Lerner’s time as owner.
However, if Dr Tony Xia’s takeover is granted approval, then Villa could soon be heading to China as part of pre-season preparation’s in the future.
