Aston Villa’s new owners are looking to create a global franchise, buying up to four other football clubs to form a global force according to Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.
Dr Tony Xia is looking to create something similar to Manchester City’s franchise project.
With his purchase of the club set to be confirmed next week, it has been reported Xia is interested in areas such as India, America, Austria and China.
Xia’s wealth has been questioned, but, sources close to the Chinese businessman have said he has invested a substantial amount of money to bring the club back to its glory days.
Despite Xia’s takeover not being officially confirmed, he has been able to appoint Roberton Di Matteo as manager along with Steve Clarke as his assistant.
Di Matteo’s appointment is set to generate interest in China with Di Matteo being a Champions League winner with Chelsea back in 2012.
