Aston Villa’s search for a striker continues as the club are now linked with a move to sign West Bromwich Albion’s Rickie Lambert according to the Birmingham Mail.
Manager Roberto Di Matteo believes Lambert will be the perfect fit for what is a major rebuild at Villa Park.
Lambert has only scored four times in two seasons for West Brom and before his move to the Hawthorns, he was in much better scoring form.

His experience in The Championship with the likes of Southampton is what appeals to the Villa boss as he looks to get the villains back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Di Matteo has also received positive reports about Lambert’s influence off the field which could prove crucial to a squad who have never experienced life in The Championship.
Before moving to West Brom in 2015, Lambert had a brief spell at Liverpool where he only managed to score two goals in 25 appearances.
