It hasn’t escaped the attention of Villa fans that a certain forward has been missing from the squad’s for the recent friendlies against Bristol Rovers and FC Nantes.
Agbonlahor, who was suspended twice by the club last season over his behaviour, played 68 minutes last weekend against Worcester City, before he was replaced by Kienan Davis.
However, he was absent from the squad which played against Bristol Rovers on Wednesday and was once again absent as Villa travelled over to France for their friendly against Nantes.
The reason for the 29-year-old’s absence has been revealed by the Birmingham Mail, with a strain given as the reason for his non-involvement although his specific injury has not been revealed.
Agbonlahor was not the only experienced player missing from the win against Nantes, with Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards and Libor Kozak all missing the victory against the French side.
The former club captain will hope to be involved against Cambridge United on Tuesday or against Middlesbrough next Saturday.
