Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed there is interest in midfielder Carlos Sanchez from Fioretina.
Since signing from Elche for £5.1m in the summer of 2014, Sanchez has been in-and-out of the Villa team never really establishing himself, making 56 appearances over the last two years and scoring just once.
The 30-year-old doesn’t feature in Di Matteo’s plans for the coming season and is poised to follow Idrissa Gueye out the exit door after the Senegal international signed for Everton after the Premier League side met his £7.1m release-clause.

With 67 caps for Colombia, an experienced international like Sanchez would naturally attract a lot of suitors. After a move to Marseille fell through, Serie A side Fiorentina have made their interest known in the 30-year-old and Di Matteo has commented on those reports.
“Fiorentina are interested in our midfielder. We are negotiating but for now there is no agreement. Until there is understanding, Sanchez will be considered in all respects our player.” Di Matteo said at his pre-match press conference.

Villa could replace Sanchez with Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak, who the club are believed to have made a bid for yesterday.
