Aston Villa will challenge fellow relegated sides Newcastle United and Norwich City for the signature of Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells, according to the Royal Gazette.
Wells has been an in-demand striker in this transfer window, with relegated sides seeking a return to the Premier League needing a proven Championship striker. This has been especially necessary for Villa and Newcastle, who both have squads built for the Premier League, which has a very different style of play to the Championship. Wells has experience at this level, having been with Huddersfield for two and a half years, and in that time scoring 36 goals in his 104 appearances.

Villa may be looking to Wells as a replacement for Jordan Ayew. The striker has been touted with moves away to the Premier League and Wells may be bought in to fill the void left by the Ghanaian international.
Aston Villa currently sit 12th in the Championship after four games.
