Ahead of Villa’s game against Brentford at Villa Park on Wednesday night, Roberto Di Matteo has given an update on the players who didn’t feature on Sunday against Nottingham Forest.
The 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest on Sunday extended Villa’s winless run to four games, having only won once in all competitions so far this season.
However, there is good news ahead of Brentford’s visit to Villa Park. Summer signings- Albert Adomah, Aaron Tshibola and Mile Jedinak are all expected to be availble for selection for the visit of Dean Smith’s side, after the midfield trio missed the draw against Nottingham Forest.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game, Di Matteo was confident of the return of Adomah and Tshibola.
I am expecting Aaron and Albert to train.
We will see how that goes with those two.
But overall the squad looks in good health.
He was also sure of Jedinak’s availability for selection, after the Austrailian midfielder missed Sunday’s game after returning from international duty only a day before.
Mile played with his national side in Australia last Thursday and got injured.
He then travelled to Abu Dhabi with them – and only trained with us really on Saturday.
However, Di Matteo was unsure about Pierluigi Gollini’savailabilityy, after the goalkeeper was substituted at the weekend.
In the first half, when Pierluigi came out, he got a kick on the throat.
He was struggling at half-time to breathe.
He was a bit drowsy so we had to make a change.
We will have to assess him.
Di Matteo will be hoping that the availability of three of his summer signings will give Villa a much needed win.
