Amavi insists that Villa will come good

This season so far has been frustrating for Villa fans, a summer of heavy investment into the first team squad has yielded only one win in all competitions.

Despite Roberto Di Matteo spending over £40 million in the summer, Villa currently sit 18th in the Sky Bet Championship, having only beat Rotherham so far this season.

However, despite Villa’s poor start to the season, one Villa player believes that Villa have the quality to be promoted this season.

Jordan Amavi, who has struggled to regain his place in the Villa first XI after a serious injury, is confident that Villa can begin to string a run of victories together after Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Ipswich at Portman Road.

Speaking to Villa’s website, the 22-year-old said:

We kept a clean sheet which is a good thing.

Now we just need a bit of luck, to score some goals and try to win some games.

We have very good players in the team. I think we have one of the best squads in the Championship.

I am confident we will mix those two elements together. I think the win is just around the corner.

Villa’s next game sees Roberto Di Matteo’s side take on Newcastle United, who will be eager to get back to winning ways after a 2-0 defeat to Wolves last Saturday.
