Last night, Aston Villa were seconds away from securing just their second win of the Championship season before a last-gasp Sam Winnall goal for Barnsley cancelled out Jordan Ayew’s strike to spare the spoils.
Roberto Di Matteo’s side fought valiantly but were, again, unable to see the job out as they were handed their seventh draw in ten Championship fixtures so far this season.
It was claimed that Di Matteo had two matches to save his job and that if he suffered defeat in either the trip to Barnsley or this weekend’s match at Deepdale against Preston then he would be on the chopping block.
