Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia could move to appoint former Newcastle United and England boss Steve McClaren as boss at Villa Park if Roberto Di Matteo is dismissed.
The Daily Mail report that McClaren, who was sacked last season by Newcastle could well be in the mind of Xia if Di Matteo is sacked after a poor start to the season.
The Villans have only won one of their first eleven games this season despite mass investment over the summer from the new owner.

They succumbed to a 2-0 loss yesterday at Preston North End with the travelling 5,600 fans chanting ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ to Di Matteo after another poor showing.
McClaren has struggled to ever recover from his stint as England manager but did win the Dutch Eredivisie with FC Twente in 2010. m
He has since struggled with spells at Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest, Twente, Derby County and finally Newcastle United.
