Brentford Town manager Dean Smith is on the shortlist of managers being considered by Aston Villa as they seek to replace Roberto Di Matteo at Villa Park.
ITV report how Smith is on the list of potential candidates to replace Di Matteo who was sacked this morning after a poor start to their Championship season.
Owner Dr Tony Xia and CEO Keith Wyness are understood to have placed Dean Smith on the list with caretaker boss Steve Clarke also being taken into consideration.
The Villans have only won once so far this season in eleven matches and are on the hunt for their seventh manager since Martin O’Neill departed in 2010.

The international break should allow Villa to move quickly to replace Di Matteo ahead of a local derby with Wolverhampton Wanderers when the domestic football gets back underway in two weeks time.
Smith moved to Brentford in November 2015 from Walsall and has had relative success with his attacking style of football with many plaudits.
He admitted a month or so ago that he has watched Villa since being a child in the Holte End and most of his family are supporters of the Midlands side.
