Aston Villa are said to be close on appointing a new manager at Villa Park with Steve Clarke and Steve Bruce said to be the two names in close running for the role.
The Villans have had a torrid start to the season with only one win so far and countless errors haunting an expensively assembled squad.
What does the next man at the helm need to do to change our fortune?
Find a solid back line
Tommy Elphick may be the new man at the club and the captain but he is splitting the fans opinion already with the defender struggling at times for any sort of form.
Nathan Baker has looked composed when given game time so far this season and James Chester has been solid at times so who makes up the back line?
We have proven that a back five does not work with Tommy Elphick in it so does the new manager drop Elphick in favour for Baker and Chester?

Furthermore, Aly Cissokho has been in some good form in the Championship but Jordan Amavi has been nearing full fitness in recent weeks.
It will all depend on how defensively open our new manager wants to be. We have leaked countless goals late in games this season but it’s not like we have played with an open attacking defence either.
The defence does need to bond and be consistent. Our marking this season has been atrocious so sorting out our defence should be a priority. The same goes for whoever starts in goal also. I personally would like to see Jed Steer be given a game.
Have a Plan B
Every manager since Martin O’Neill has not had a plan B. We need a manager who can chop and change things if it isn’t going great. Recently we have had countless men who have failed to change games when they’re going wrong.
Under Roberto Di Matteo we would take the lead but then always throw it away. If we had a plan B I do not believe that would be the case.

Don’t play five attackers
This isn’t rocket science but our squad was incredibly unbalanced under Roberto Di Matteo.
INSPIRE
We need a manager who can motivate. The bottom line of our issues is self belief and we have very little of it. The fans do need to back the squad but they also need to back themselves with some belief in performances.
