Aston Villa are closing in on the appointment of a new manger with Steve Clarke and Steve Bruce the leading two candidates for the job.
Owner Dr Tony Xia had previously confirmed that it had been whittled down to two candidates and now seemingly they have been revealed by PA journalist Nick Mashiter.

The Villans dismissed Roberto Di Matteo last week after a poor start to their Championship season despite heavy investment over the summer.
They have mustered only one win so far this season and languish just above the relegation zone after eleven games.
Bruce last managed at Hull City but left the Tigers in the summer after getting frustrated due to a lack of transfer activity.

Meanwhile Steve Clarke joined Villa in the summer as part of Roberto Di Matteo’s coaching staff but most recently spent time in the league as a manager with Reading last season.
Clarke’s most successful campaign as a manager to date came with West Bromwich Albion when he led them to a top ten finish in the Premier League.
Steve Bruce has previously been promoted on four occasions with Hull City and Birmingham City.
