Aston Villa are close to appointing Steve Bruce as their new manager according to numerous reports overnight.
The Telegraph, and Mirror all claim that the former Hull City boss could be confirmed as the new man at the helm at Villa Park soon with a formal interview set to take place within the next 48 hours.
It is said that the new technical director Steve Round had a key part to play in the recruitment process with Steve Clarke being confirmed as the other leading candidate for the job when it was whittled down to two.
The Mirror meanwhile claim several ‘high profile’ managers have thrown their name into the ring but Steve Bruce is thought to be the leading man.
Bruce, who has been promoted on four separate occasions from the Championship could be in charge for the Villans weekend clash with local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
