Bruce says Villa will go ‘onwards and upwards’

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has promised the start of a turnaround for the Birmingham-based side, following his second win in as many games as boss.

Villa beat Fulham 1-0 at Villa Park, and speaking to the BBC, Bruce said that he hopes to have things change for the better for the Villans.

We have got to turn things around; Villa Park has been an awful place for too long. Hopefully this is the start and we are going to go onwards and upwards.

Bruce also said that he has been working to re-invigorate the players, and is happy that good results are coming off the back of the work.

We have tried to breathe a bit of life back into the players. Thankfully when they respond, and get a couple of good results, that does no harm.

Furthermore, the Englishman said that he was ‘delighted’ for the players, and admitted that there had been ‘huge changes’ within the club during the last week.

We have made a decent start and I am delighted for the players. A week ago they were quiet. There have been huge changes throughout the club.

Villa currently sit 16th in the Championship, six points outside the playoff places.

With Bruce now in charge, and Villa winning again, they will be hoping to charge up the table. Next up for him will be a huge clash with local rivals Birmingham City at St. Andrews, at noon next Sunday.
