Gary Gardner ready to get one over his brother

Gary Gardner is ready to get one over his older brother on Sunday when his family’s loyalty will be split with Aston Villa taking on Birmingham City.

For Gary he has always been a Villa fan whilst former Aston Villa midfielder Craig is a die hard Birmingham City fan.

My family are split so all I want to do now is win and get it done with.

Steve Bruce’s Villa will go to St Andrews on Sunday on the back of back to back wins with Gary Gardner playing a key role in both games.

It will be the first time he has lined up against the club’s fiercest rivals. Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Gary revealed how big of an encounter it is.

It’s a massive game. It’s one of the biggest games of the season in terms of rivalry

Gardner spoke about how the fans have been vital in the past two games and he can expect a similar performance from the Villa faithful on Sunday with a sell out.

Obviously, the fans will be there getting us through it, too.

The midfielder went on to talk about the influence of Steve Bruce and how the players will be working to be in contention come noon on Sunday.

He’ll certainly have all the lads working hard and right behind him.

You can catch the game on Sky Sports 1 and also live on BBC Local Radio.
