After coming from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers on Saturday Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce spoke to the Birmingham Mail about the three points.
For Bruce the victory meant that his unbeaten tenure ship at Villa Park continued and for Villa it is now their longest unbeaten run since the managerial reign of Martin O’Neill at the club.
They showed a bit of character which is what we need.
There was nothing to really make a song or dance about in the first half with a poor showing from the home side but things improved in the second half despite Rovers opening the scoring.
The Blackburn goal seemed to wake Aston Villa up with a response after two and a half minutes after Jack Grealish was fouled in the penalty area.
A second goal came soon after Gabriel Agbonlahor won the ball in midfield and laid off the ball to Mile Jedinak who supplied Jonathan Kodjia with a slick pass to latch on to and finish with ease.
Bruce said his side finally looked like a team after fighting back.
First half we didn’t do enough to win any football match. Second half we started with more energy and a bit of fire. Towards the last half an hour we started to look like a team which is important.
