Perluigi Gollini’s place as Aston Villa first choice keeper may well be under threat as Steve Bruce wants to bring in Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor in January. The Daily Record are reporting that Bruce is interested in signing McGregor in order to introduce competition at the club.
McGregor has been injured for much of the season and therefore has lost his starting position to his Scottish compatriot, David Marshall.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce had this to say about his search for a goalkeeper:
‘We’re looking because it’s healthy not to just have two at the moment.’
McGregor is a keeper with vast experience having made over 30 international appearances for Scotland, alongside successful spells with sides such as Rangers, Besiktas and St. Johnstone.
Adding stability to the defence will help Aston Villa progress up the Championship table and therefore it is easy to see why Bruce would be willing to take a chance on McGregor, a much more experienced goalkeeper than Gollini.
Bruce has also confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday shot stopper Kieran Westwood is not on his list of keepers which he would like to bring in at Villa.
