Ahead of Villa’s game against Burton Albion on Boxing Day, it’s time to look back at how Villa have fared on previous Boxing Day fixtures.
Villa have a dreadful recent record, with no wins on the 26th December for over 10 years.
Since a 4-0 victory over Everton on Boxing Day in 2005, Villa have accumulated a record of six defeats and four defeats. Easily one of, if not the worst boxing day record in the League pyramid over that time.
However, form is on Steve Bruce’s side ahead of Monday’s clash against Burton Albion, with Villa unbeaten at home since a defeat to Southampton in April.
Ending Villa’s dismal Boxing Day record could see Bruce’s side close in on the play-offs. A win could see Villa close the gap to Sheffield Wednesday in sixth place to three points.
Here is a look back at Villa’s previous five results on Boxing Day.
