Since joining in the summer for £12m from Leeds United, Ross McCormack hasn’t quite hit the heights many thought he would.
Halfway through the season, the 30-year-old striker has made 19 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring just three times and has bene thoroughly outplayed by fellow summer signing Jonathan Kodjia.
With a place in the play-offs still a reasonably realistic target for Villa, Steve Bruce must make some big decisions over the next month about who to offload and who to bring into his squad for the second half of the season.
Bruce didn’t sign McCormack, who has only started three of the last eight Championship games, and perhaps he could depart with former club Leeds along with Wolves interested in bringing in the Scotland international on loan until the end of the season, say the Daily Mail.
McCormack has been one of the most prolific strikers in the division over the last few seasons but hasn’t been so for Villa, so perhaps going in another direction wouldn’t be the worst idea.
