Pierluigi Gollini could leave the club this month, with Genoa interested in signing him to replace the injured Mattia Perin in goal, according to TMW.
Perin is out for the rest of the season and possibly longer with a serious knee injury and Gollini is on the Serie A club’s shortlist for replacements this month.
The former Manchester United academy star joined Aston Villa in the summer from Hellas Verona for a reported £4.25m and began the season and the club’s No.1 between the sticks.
After starting all but one of Villa’s first 21 Championship games this season, Steve Bruce made the decision to drop Gollini for Mark Bunn for the trip to QPR and has stuck with Bunn in each of the last four games.
Bruce has also dipped into the transfer market to bring in another goalkeeper with Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone joining on loan until the end of the season and he made his debut in the 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Tottenham yesterday, which could raise questions about Gollini’s immediate future with the club.
With Bunn now the settled No.1 it seems and Johnstone in reserve, Villa could loan out Gollini to Genoa where he’d play regular football and the 21-year-old could continue his development.
