Brentford manager Dean Smith has rubbished claims that his side are interested in Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack.
Smith, as quoted by Get West London, was discussing his side’s transfer activity this month and the subject of McCormack was a short-lived one, with him quashing The Bees’ chances of signing the Scotsman.
I don’t think he’s one we can probably afford either.
The 30-year-old hasn’t lived up to the high expectations set of him upon his arrival at Villa Park yet, but he could certainly have a big opportunity to stamp his mark on the club in the coming weeks due to Jonathan Kodjia’s absence. The Ivorian is representing his country at the African Cup of Nations.
McCormack has just three goals in the Championship this season from a total of 12 starts for Villa and seven appearances off the bench, so he’ll hope to improve his goal tally in the near future otherwise Steve Bruce could start to lose patience with the Scotland forward.
