Aston Villa’s late flurry of transfer activity is showing no signs of letting up.
With the signings of Barnsley’s James Bree and FC Basel’s Birkir Bjarnason both wrapped up this week already and Bree’s former team-mate Conor Hourihane set to follow, Steve Bruce wants to bring another winger to the club.
The Daily Star are reporting that Villa are interested in signing Swansea wide man Modou Barrow before the transfer window closes next week, but they face competition from Newcastle for the Gambian.
Swansea signed Barrow from Swedish side Ostersunds FK in September 2014 for a reported £1.6m but the winger has only made 55 appearances for the Swans in two-and-a-half-years.

Having brought in Luciano Narsingh from PSV this month, Swansea are now prepared to let Barrow leave the club and have been in talks with Newcastle over a move for some time.
It’s believed that Newcastle would prefer a loan deal for the £5m-rated winger but Swansea are more interested in a permanent transfer before Tuesday’s deadline.
The Times are reporting that Swansea have offered the chance for Barrow to join the Toon on loan in a deal which becomes a permanent transfer if he makes a set number of appearances for Rafa Benitez’s side but it’s understood neither Newcastle or Barrow are keen on that deal.
The 24-year-old is a target for Villa with a straight swap deal for Jordan Ayew having been reported this month and the two clubs held talks over the weekend regarding a deal for Barrow.
It’s clear that Barrow will leave the Liberty Stadium this month but Swansea will hold out for the deal that suits them best.
