After failing to land Jordan Rhodes from Middlesbrough, Steve Bruce is looking to sign a striker from a fellow Championship club to bolster Aston Villa’s play-off bid.

According to Jason Burt of the Telegraph, Aston Villa have now entered the race for the 24-year-old striker who has been in-demand much of the January transfer window.
West Ham have had three bids turned down for Hogan this month already, the latest worth a reported £12.5m but Brentford are standing firm and state they will not consider selling Hogan unless a bid of £15m comes in before tomorrow’s deadline.

In August 2014, Hogan suffered a severe knee injury which forced him to miss over 18 months of football before his return in March 2016, but he found his best form after injury, scoring 20 Championship goals in the 2016 calendar year, the most of any player.
Aston Villa will likely see Jordan Ayew leave the club with Neil Taylor coming the other way from Swansea, and Ross McCormack’s future is very much up in the air as we edge closer to the deadline.
With this in mind, bringing in a striker is very much Steve Bruce’s number one priority this month having been forced to move on from Jordan Rhodes after a £6m bid was rejected.
