Steve Bruce is looking to reunite with one of his former players at Aston Villa next season, according to the Sunday Mirror (h/t Football Fancast).
The report claims that Villa are keen on signing Burnley midfielder George Boyd in the summer when he becomes a free agent.
It wouldn’t be the first time Bruce signed the player on the free transfer after plucking him from Peterborough to join him at Hull when his contract with The Posh came to an end in the summer of 2013.
Boyd enjoyed a great season with Hull and only spent one year with the Tigers before Burnley spent a then club-record £3m fee to land the 31-year-old.
After three years at Turf Moor, Boyd is set to leave the club this summer after turning down a one-year contract extension with the club and Bruce is eager to bring him to Villa Park.
Capped twice by Scotland, Boyd has appeared in all but one of Burnley’s Premier League games this season and would be a solid addition to the Villa midfield as they look to secure promotion back to the Premier League next season.
