Steve Bruce will be heading up a major overhaul of the Aston Villa squad in the summer with a number of players coming in and going out of Villa Park.
One area Bruce has put major funds into improving already is the midfield with the arrivals of Birkir Bjarnason, Henri Lansbury and Conor Hourinhane during the January transfer window – but he’s not finished there.
According to Sky Sports (h/t the Daily Star), Villa are one of a number of teams looking into signing out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart during the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Tottenham in the summer of 2014 and enjoyed spells on loan with Cheltenham Town, Burton Albion and Swindon before breaking into the first-team at Anfield in the second half of the 2015/16 season.
Stewart’s made 20 career first-team appearances for Liverpool to date but hasn’t featured in a Premier League game for the Reds since mid-September and is expected to leave the club in the summer.
Stoke, Burnley, Brighton, Derby and Norwich are all vying for Stewart’s signature.
